After a 3.45am wakeup call and a long, grueling flight with a very irritating child in front of us we finally made it to New York. It is cool. In both senses of the word. After a good sleep we spent our first day in the city exploring Times Square and the 9/11 memorial site.
Times Square:
If you look closely above the 2012 Toshiba is the ball for the NYE Ball Drop!

M&M world!
In the Times Square visitor centre was this massive wishing wall - you write your wish on a piece of confetti and it gets dropped with the Ball at Midnight on New Years Eve. We both made a wish. Check out our favourite one that was already on the wall below...
After times square, we ventured down into the Subway (quite the experience) and got the train out to the 9/11 Memorial Site. Was super busy but a nice place to reflect and definitely a nice place to visit and pay respect.

The survivor tree - the only tree from around the original towers to survive 9/11 and was then nursed back to health and planted as a symbol of survival.
That evening we went to a lovely Thai restaurant for dinner before heading to see Wicked on Broadway. Which was amazing. Best Musical. Ever.
