California Academy of Sciences
On our last day in San Fran we got up early to catch a bus up through Haight to Golden Gate Park. Haight is meant to be hippie central but massive fail on our behalf when we got there at 9am and realised that all the hippies were too wasted from the night before to be up before 11am. We did get a photo at the Haight/Ashbury street sign though before heading up to the park. On our way we met a lovely man who told us all about his various science degrees before opening a mcdonalds bag and pulling out a few magic mushrooms. Feeling really safe right about now. We wandered past Janis Joplin's tree and hippie hill, got slightly lost in the park which is actually ginormous and finally managed to find the California Academy of Sciences. It was really cool! First room we went into was like a giant snow globe and was snowing inside! There was a real life rain forrest with a tonne of butterflies and a swamp with an albino alligator. They also had baby ostriches, an aquarium, penguins and an earthquake house which replicated the big San Fran earthquakes of 1906 and 1989.
