Our 10th day of contiki was one of the best of our lives!
Started off
with a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon which was amazingly
beautifully breathtakingly spectacular! We were right up the front of
the helicopter surrounded by windows so had the optimum viewing point!
Started
at the airport and had to fly over about 10 minutes worth of forest
(surprising as everyone is under the impression the grand canyon is
amongst desert) and the feeling we got when all of a sudden the ground
falls out from below you and the canyon is surrounding you miles below
cannot be explained! We both got a little emotional it was just so
incredible!
After our helicopter ride we went on a hike down into the Grand Canyon with Adam & Alex. We had originally planned on doing the Bright Angel trail which leaves from right by our hotel but after talking to one of the women at the front desk she told us we wouldn't get to see any pretty vistas for miles on that track, we very quickly changed our minds and did the Kaibab trail instead. The women at the front desk were also very condemning telling us we needed to get spokes for our shoes and hiking poles as the canyon wall is very dangerous and icy but we all voted and decided we'd be fine haha.
We ended up hiking 6 miles down into the canyon to Skeleton point and saw so many pretty views. It was amazing! Then we had to start the trek back up the canyon which we weren't as stoked about but managed to do in record time nonetheless! A very fun and successful day!
