This morning we boarded the bus headed for the Grand Canyon! A destination that we were all very excited about. It was a bit of a trek, as we had to travel across THREE states! Colorado, Utah and into Arizona.
Our first stop of the day was Monument Valley. Just moments prior to our official stop however, we made a quick photo-stop at the point of the road where Forest Gump is shown running through the valley (technically its just outside of the valley, but it looked good on camera).
It also reminded us a lot of Wile Coyote and the Roadrunner!!
A few seconds down the road on the bus and we were at the official Monument Valley visitor center where we took some wicked photos of the rock formations and picked up a few native Indian American trinkets.
Our lunch stop was at a little tiny town that we don't even remember the name of, but its not important.
Next stop GRAND CANYON!!!!
We went to the highest viewpoint of the Canyon before making our way to the hotel, (the South East Rim) and had our first breathtaking sights of the amazingness that was before us. Needless to say we were blown away, took some incredible (and touristy) photos and then climbed back on the bus completely dumbfounded by the size of it!!!
We eventually got to the lodge just before the sun went down so we wandered over to the rim walk of the Canyon which was literally 100 meters from our doorstep and watched the sunset over the canyon. so. pretty.
After the sunset we had dinner in the lodge cafeteria (imagine an american school cafeteria type situation... very confusing) and then had a white t-shirt party where everyone from contiki attacked each other's t-shirts with pens and signed messages etc... Afew beers in it turned into a graffiti people's faces party.
