Contiki Day 2 - Trip to Memphis

it just so happened that our first bus day was quite the epic haul. we traversed the entire state of mississippi, to make our way to Memphis Tennessee (stopping in Jackson for lunch).

We had planned to spend the majority of the travel time sleeping, but the bus has tv screens, and Monty plays movies relative to our destinations. So we watched The Help and Walk the Line and before we knew it we were in Memphis!

We had a super quick turnaround to make ourselves presentable and we were out the door again, headed to the Kooky Canuck for dinner. This is where things started to get crazy. Its a reastaurant known for its big food. and food challenges. it is a thing to order a 25lb burger and try to eat it in a team of four under 60 minutes. It has never been successfully completed, but it provided us with great entertainment as 3 groups attempted it in our contiki. Just to put it into perspective, our suitcase allowance is 50lbs, so these burgers weighed half a suitcase, and contain around 40,000 calories.

One of the other kiwi guys attempted the single man challenge which was to eat an 8lb burger and a plate of fries in an hour - succesfully completed by 17 people. He did not finish.
After a feed (inclusive of smores!) and for some a quick spew before getting back on the bus, we headed to FedEx Forum stadium to catch a NBA game.

Memphis Grizzlies played Brooklyn Nets (and totally smashed them) and we had pretty decent seats! Jay-Z owns the Nets (cool factoid) and Kris Humphries - Kim Kardashian's exhusband plays in that team so that got us pretty excited... someone was yelling out KANYE while he was trying to shoot. funny guy.

After the game we all went to Coyote Ugly for a laugh, and ended up having heaps of fun! Dancing on the bar, singing and just general good (relatively) clean fun. We were pretty tired from the night before so we headed home relatively early to get a good night sleep while the rest of the crew partied til the early hours!
