Today was a huge day filled with many
museums, monuments and important buildings!
We caught the subway to the Smithsonian and our first stop was the National Museum of American History.

The remains of the Philadelphia – fought for
independence from Great Britain
Presidential Street Signs
Chelsea Clinton’s Pointe Shoes
Stood at a Presidential Podium
Michelle Obama’s Inauguration Ball dress
The original Star Spangled Banner (couldn’t
take photos of it)

We then went to the American Museum of Natural History.
There was a Mammals exhibition

A Titanaboa exhibition (largest snake in
the world – 48ft long)
A wildlife photography exhibition
The Hope Diamond
Animal Skeletons
We then popped across the National Mall for
a photo at the Smithsonian Castle
Walked through the National Art Gallery’s
Sculpture garden
Went to the National Archives and saw the
original Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and the United States
Constitution (weren’t allowed to take photos)
We then saw the Capitol Building where
congress meets and presidents are inaugurated.
Unfortunately by this time, the Capitol was
closing but we hope to get back there to have a look around before we leave DC.
We walked back home past the Library of Congress.
