On the 4th we got up bright and
early and jumped on a train from Penn Station that was Washington DC bound.
Four hours and a wee snooze later we were in the Capital city on a gorgeous
sunny day! We dropped our bags at our hotel and began to explore. We wandered down National Mall and saw the
National Monument, a World War II memorial as well as the reflection pond and
the Abraham Lincoln Memorial – he’s HUGE! We also paid a visit to the White
House and said hello to the Obama’s. And saw lots and lots of other monuments.
DC is a really pretty city, with lots of
wide open spaces – coming from the craziness of New York, it seems VERY quiet
and peaceful… but the best thing about it is that all the touristy attractions
and things to do are FREE! God Bless America – the land of the free.
