"Norlins"

While we were perfectly happy to say goodbye to lil'blue today, when the alarm went off at 6am we remembered the downfalls of travel by plane - you have to be at the airport early.

Miami International Airport is massive (if you were wondering) but it also doesn't have a post office - contrary to what the websites tells you.  As we were hoping to post some stuff before we flew, this was not good news to us. But once we found some caffeine we didn't mind the extra carry on so much.

Changing different time zones once again, our two hour flight got us into NOLA (New Orleans Louisianna) at 11.30am ish so we headed straight for our hotel (room not available), then out to try some southern food for lunch. Po'Boys and sweet potato fries.

After eating and wandering, in the not-so-28degree-climate, we were cold and wanting to google, so tried to check into our hotel room again. unsuccessful. So off we headed again, after the guy at the front desk circled the malls on the map - clearly he can't tell a couple of broke tourists from a couple of shopaholic girls...

View up Canal Street

We wandered down Canal Street and ventured into the beginnings of the French Quater, ending up at Jackson Square where they are gearing up for the 2013 Superbowl thats being held here on the 2nd of Feb.

Behind the park was a gorgeous castle... ok so its actualy St Louis Cathedral. but it looks like a Disney castle so we will roll with that. Spin round 180degrees and we were looking straight out onto the Mississippi river! Very cool. Fabulous view.

Meandering down along the rivers edge we stumbled upon one of the malls suggested to us so had a wee looksy, got us a sweet fleur-de-lis charm for our bracelets and then headed back to the hotel. By this stage we were delirious with exhaustion, pain in our old travellers joints and dehydrated. Needless to say the uncontrollable giggles took over.

Various shots from along the river, on the Moonwalk.

Martigras is also very soon, so everything is very festive! ... or maybe they have diddles on beaded necklaces in shops all the time (please note the racial friendly options)

Aaaand all the convinience stores stock alcohol. including these cute wee balls of fun! $2.99 for a little ball of RTD in heaps of flavours

Our hotel room at the Whitney is FAAAABULOUS.  Not brand new flashy like the Westin, but old school boutiquey flash, with a lounge and a seperate bedroom and a massive bathroom. very cool.

Dinner this evening consisted of bagels accosted from breakfast this morning, half an orange and a glass of water from the cooler in reception. living. the. dream.
